A formal demarche was issued to the Chargé d’Affaires of the Pakistan High Commission on Tuesday, conveying India’s strong objection to the official’s conduct.

Army briefs diplomats from 70 nations: Lieutenant General DS Rana, Director General of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), on Tuesday briefed Foreign Service Attaches from 70 nations on the successful execution of Operation Sindoor, which has redefined India-Pakistan relations by showcasing India’s military strength and national resolve in modern warfare. He stressed on the deliberate planning behind the selection of targets with verified terror links and the Indian Armed Forces’ precise, integrated, and prompt multi-domain response. India-Pakistan ceasefire LIVE Updates: What India said on ‘nuclear leakage’ in Pakistan after Operation Sindoor

In the wake of swirling online speculation about a nuclear mishap in Pakistan following the high-stakes Operation Sindoor, India has issued a categorical denial, asserting its military actions were within conventional limits. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Tuesday dismantled speculation around a nuclear angle, saying the narrative was not only baseless but also contradicted by Pakistan’s own top leadership.

“The military action from our side was entirely in the conventional domain,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said at a press briefing on Tuesday. “This was also made very clear in the defence briefing yesterday… Pakistan FM has himself denied the nuclear angle on record,” he said.

Jaiswal’s comments come four days after India and Pakistan agreed to a cessation of hostilities. Official sources have now confirmed that nearly 20 per cent of Pakistan’s air force assets were destroyed in the precision strikes launched under Operation Sindoor. Read Full Report

India-Pakistan ceasefire LIVE Updates | Mediation, Kashmir & trade: Delhi rebuts Trump claims point by point

With US President Donald Trump claiming credit for 'mediation' in stopping a “nuclear” conflict, offering to work for a 'solution on Kashmir', and saying America will do a 'lot of trade' with both India and Pakistan if they end hostilities — India on Tuesday gave a sharply worded rebuttal on each and every point.

New Delhi ruled out mediation saying the only outstanding matter is the vacation of territory illegally occupied by Pakistan. It said that trade never came up for discussions with the US, underlined that India won’t give in to 'nuclear blackmail', and gave a chronological account of conversations to reinforce the point that it was Pakistan which reached out towards pausing military action after an extremely effective attack by Indian forces on key Pakistani Air Force bases.

This is the strongest counter by Delhi since Saturday’s claims by Trump on the range of issues and makes clear its discomfiture with Trump wading into India-Pakistan politics and hostilities.

In his first term, in July 2019, Trump had claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked him to mediate on Kashmir. New Delhi had denied that claim then following which Trump had walked back on the mediation offer saying he would only intervene if asked by both countries — a standard formulation adopted by Washington. When the first artillery shell landed in Batapora, a small village on the Line of Control in the Tangdhar area of J&K’s Kupwara district, on May 7, Rafiq Ahmad and his brothers rushed to the bunker – a dilapidated 10×12-foot room.

The six brothers and their families, including 12 children, stayed there as shells rained outside and a sudden bright light penetrated the darkness. Five houses were on fire just above them.

Within half an hour, the cluster of houses, five shops and two taxis were in ruins. Pointing at the burnt houses, Rafiq’s brother Tasveer Ahmad (36) said, “We couldn’t save anything other than the clothes we were wearing. As the flames spread, we called the fire brigade and moved out of the bunker to salvage what we could. But the shells were raining down, and we ran back inside for safety.”

Rafiq, an ex-serviceman, said he spent four decades building the house. “It was finally complete. I had painted the last part just four days earlier,” he said. “Where will we go and whom should we ask for help?” Read more

India-Pakistan ceasefire LIVE Updates: Flight operations resume partially in these airports

With reopening of 32 airports shut due to escalating India-Pakistan tensions in northern and western India from Monday, a few flights at some of these airports were operated Tuesday, including Srinagar, Jammu and Hindon which saw commercial flight operations by Air India Express, Air India, and SpiceJet, according to flight tracking data and information from airline sources.

On Monday, Air India and IndiGo announced a progressive resumption of flights Tuesday at some of the airports where operations were suspended, but later cancelled most of them due to precautionary blackouts enforced in parts of Punjab and J&K following suspected drone activity. While IndiGo's Delhi-Jammu and Delhi-Chandigarh flights operated smoothly, the Delhi-Amritsar flight returned to the Capital after a precautionary blackout was enforced in Amritsar and a few other areas of Punjab.

Air India Express operated flights on Hindon–Bengaluru, Jammu–Delhi, Jammu–Srinagar, and Srinagar–Delhi routes Tuesday, in line with the resumption plan. Its parent Air India also restarted operations between Srinagar and Delhi. Air India had initially announced that it would operate flights to and from Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot, but later cancelled most of them, barring Srinagar flights. SpiceJet also operated flights between Srinagar and Delhi Tuesday. Regional airline Star Air also operated on the Adampur (Jalandhar)-Hindon route.

According to industry sources, scheduled civil flight operations at the affected airports are expected to be fully restored over the next few days in a phased manner, provided there is a pause in hostilities.

Apart from the affected routes re-operationalised Tuesday, Air India Express plans to restart flight on the Hindon–Mumbai route from Wednesday, followed by reinstatement of other suspended flights, including international services from Amritsar, from Thursday. SpiceJet said it will resume its special Haj flights from Srinagar from Wednesday. Air India and IndiGo are yet to comment on flight status to and from the affected airports for Wednesday and beyond.

India-Pakistan ceasefire LIVE Updates: PM's address signals policy shift, Pak can't shun responsibility for terror attacks now, says Fadnavis

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has indicated a departure from the past by making it clear that India will not make any distinction between terrorists and a government harbouring them.

"Prime minister Modi made it very clear that if a non-state actor is involved in a terror attack, the government of that country will be held accountable and will face consequences....This is a crucial shift, because Pakistan has always claimed before global forums that such acts were carried out by non-state actors and not linked to their government," said Fadnavis.

"When the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack happened, the Indian government had urged the international community to hold Pakistan accountable. But our demand was not accepted, and Pakistan was treated separately. Today, our prime minister has ended that ambiguity," the BJP leader said.

Modi set out India's policy, resolve and strategic position with clarity, he said, adding, "We all saw the precision, accuracy and strength of Operation Sindoor. I thank and congratulate our armed forces, and I also congratulate prime minister Narendra Modi for his decisive leadership." The way India entered Pakistani territory, targeted its military installations in Punjab province and carried out the operation shows our strength, Fadnavis said, claiming that Pakistan got scared and contacted India to request a ceasefire.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned that India has merely suspended retaliatory actions against Pakistan's terrorist and military targets for now. PM Modi also added that Pakistan military was compelled to contact India's DGMO following the retaliation.

PM Modi said, "In just the first three days, India inflicted such massive destruction on Pakistan that it caught them completely off guard. As a result of India's aggressive response, Pakistan began desperately seeking ways to de-escalate and appealed to the international community to reduce tensions. After being thoroughly defeated, the Pakistani military was compelled to contact our DGMO on the afternoon of May 10. By that time, we had already dismantled large portions of the terrorist infrastructure and eliminated many terrorists."

He added, "When Pakistan reached out, they assured that there would be no further terrorist activity or military aggression from their side. Only then did India consider its response. India-Pakistan ceasefire LIVE Updates: Lines from Ramdhari Singh Dinkar's Rashmirathi recited before Air Marshal AK Bharti's briefing

In a press briefing held a while ago, Director General of Air Operations, Air Marshal AK Bharti said India targeted only terrorists and their support ininfrastructure and not the Pakistan military in Operation Sindoor, but the Pakistani Armed Forces chose to intervene and bat for the terrorists.

Interestingly, before the officers started speaking, the briefing began with a video playing on the screen and some lines by poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar being recited.

Later, when the officers were taking questions from the press, they were asked about the choice of these lines, and Air Marshal Bharti responded by quoting a chaupai (a quatrain) from the Ramcharitmanas to encapsulate the message being sent to Pakistan.

The lines played at the briefing were “Jab naash manuj par chhata hai, pehle vivek mar jaata hai (when destruction awaits, common sense is the first to die)”… “Hit vachan nahin tune maana, maitri ka mool na pehchana/Tou le main bhi ab jaata hun, antim sankalp sunata hun/Yachna nahin ab rann hoga, jeewan jay ya ki maran hoga (You did not listen to peace overtures, did not appreciate the value of friendship/ So I am leaving, and here’s my final resolve/No talks, now there will be combat, the triumph of life, or the ultimate bloodshed). ”

The lines have been taken from Dinkar’s epic poem Rashmirathi — a retelling of the Mahabharata with Karna as the protagonist — although they are not in the exact order that they occur in the poem.

This passage comes in a chapter called ‘Krishna ki chetavani‘ (Krishna’s warning). When war between the Kauravas and the Pandavas is imminent, Lord Krishna comes to the Kaurava prince Duryodhan to make one last attempt at peace. He tells him that his cousins the Pandavas are willing to forgo their right to the kingdom of Hastinapur, if Duryodhan would just give them five villages and leave them in peace.
