Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh ChouhanVirtually ruling out his resignation, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday said his government would urge the Supreme Court also to order a CBI probe into the Vyapam scam.

Chouhan, who is in the capital for discussions with party leaders, said the matter relating to Vyapam scam would be coming up before the Supreme Court tomorrow.
“We requested the (Madhya Pradesh) High Court that the probe should be done by CBI. The matter is likely to come up before the Supreme Court tomorrow. We will make the same prayer there too,” Chouhan said.
Earlier, the Madhya Pradesh High Court refused to hear the govt’s plea for a CBI probe into the Vyapam scam and deferred the matter till July 20.
The HC cited pendency of similar plea in Supreme Court for deferring the hearing. The apex court will hear the plea on July 9.
Facing sharp criticism from Opposition over the series of deaths in the case, the MP government had appealed to the High Court to hand over the investigation into the Vyapam admission tests scam to the CBI.
Under attack, Chouhan claimed he wanted to counter what he called the “falsehood” surrounding the recent deaths linked to the controversy.
