UPA Govt fails to contain price rise: CPI

The CPI accused UPA govt of failure in containing price rise of commodities.

The CPI today accused Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government of failure in containing price rise of various commodities, saying it had hit the poor and the middle class people.

Flaying the Centre’s claim that inflation rates had “drastically” come down,CPI National Secretary D Raja said,“The prices have not decreased, but increased.” Talking to reporters,he said,“If the Centre bans forward trading, online trading and future trading systems, the prices of all commodities will come down,” he said.

He appealed to the Centre to procure food grains, pulses and spices and distribute it to the public.

Claiming that due to the policies of Below Poverty Line (BPL) and Above Poverty Line (APL) “systems” the needy people were neglected and not getting the real benefits,he said it was necessary to streamline the Public Distribution System.

On the World Trade Organisation agreement,he said due to America’s compulsion India signed the same and it was not benefiting any Indians.

“Everyone is talking about the issue of global warming and America is speaking heavily about it.

Actually the carbon emission, which leads to global warming,is too high in America. But the US Government is instructing India to reduce carbon emission,” he said.
