Two villagers, who apprehended an armed Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Mohammad Naved alias Mohammad Usman at village Chirdi in Udhampur district last week, were recruited in Jammu & Kashmir Police on Tuesday. Identifying them as Rakesh Kumar Sharma of Pakhlai, at present Narsoo and Bikramjeet Singh of Nanak Nagar, Jammu, sources said that Director General of Police K Rajendra Kumar in recognition to their rare display of courage in nabbing a Pakistani terrorist alive have also recommended their names to the government for award of Shaurya Chakra on the occasion of coming Independence Day. While an order appointing Rakesh Kumar Sharma as constable on operation grounds in the state police was issue by K Rajendra, the police headquarters also recommended the government for relaxation of qualification bar in favour of Bikramjeet for his appointment as follower in the police force, sources said. Both along with two others were held hostage by Naved, who after attack on a BSF convoy had escaped to the nearby village. While the other two hostages managed to escape after sometime, both Rakesh and Bikramjeet overpowered the terrorist and handed him over to the police.
