Two cops killed, 1 hurt in Gadchiroli Naxal attack

The Gadchiroli police have been engaged in the massive inter-state anti-Naxal operation with the CRPF.

Two Gadchiroli police commandos were killed and another one injured when Naxals opened fire from the forest while the C-60 commando parties were crossing the state border into Chhattisgarh for an inter-state operation. The incident occurred around 6 pm on Sunday. Inspector General of Police Ravindra Kadam confirmed two casualties.

“Five C-60 commando parties were on an inter-state operation near Jambia Gatta in Etapalli tehsil. Even as they crossed Parlkota river, the fire came from jungle in which our two personnel were martyred and another one injured.”

The Gadchiroli police have been engaged in the massive inter-state anti-Naxal operation in tandem with the CRPF. “On Sunday, however, there were no CRPF men with the C-60 parties,” a senior official said. “It was an intelligence-based operation and we had information about Naxal location in the area,” he added.
