To foil infiltration attempts from across the border and maintain law and order,troops must be more proactive in Jammu and Kashmir,a top army officer has said. "In view of the turbulent situation across the border,the security forces needed to be more proactive to foil all infiltration attempts and ensure that the present state of normalcy was maintained at all costs," General Officer Commander (GOC),16 Corps,Lt Gen Rameshwar Roy said. At a high level Core-Group meeting at 16 Corps headquarters at Nagrota last evening,he lauded the services of troops,intelligence agencies and police in the efficient handling of internal security. Gen Roy,who recently took over the charge of 16 Corps looking after the operating area of Jammu region south of Pir Panchal,said "there is a dire need to be extra vigilant in view of recent increase in infiltration attempts and large recovery of arms and ammunition in the region". The Corps Commander,who is also Security Advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Government said,"Zero tolerance for human right violations by security forces must be ensured at all cost".
