Tribal body takes mobile firms to court

A tribal body has filed a suit in the consumer court here against eight leading cellular mobile companies for allegedly misrepresenting 'Gojri' in their costumer care facility in the state.

A tribal body has filed a suit in the consumer court here against eight leading cellular mobile companies for allegedly misrepresenting ‘Gojri’ in their costumer care facility in the state.

The complaint has charged the service providers with “fraud,false advertising and deceptive trade practices” by misrepresenting Gojri,the third largest spoken languages of the state.

Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation,an organization of tribes,has also accused the companies of failing to provide quality services in tribal areas,its national secretary Javaid Rahi said on Sunday.

Services in tribal areas are almost defunct. Out of 32 lakh mobile and wireless connections in the state,one third is Gojri speaking consumers,he claimed.

Companies are,however,providing costumer care computerised services in regional languages like Kashmiri,Dogri and Ladakhi,he contended.
