Suspected poacher fires at police,killed

Gadchiroli police shot a suspected poacher in Armori tehsil of the district after his fleeing gang fired at them Tuesday night.

Superintendent of police Suvez Haq said: “Our patrol party spotted three men on a road near Karadi village around 11.30 pm Tuesday and asked them to stop. But they tried to flee into a forest near the road and fired at police. In return fire,one of them was killed. The remaining two surrendered and have been arrested. Soon after,eight others reached the spot and told police they all were out hunting.”

Police recovered two country-made guns,a knife,torch and an axe from the two arrested. “All 11 men belong to Bhagwanpur village and had reportedly killed a spotted dear three days ago,” Haq said.
