The police on Sunday arrested a man,his wife and her two cousins for the murder of his father in Sangrur.

The police on Sunday arrested a man,his wife and her two cousins for the murder of his father in Sangrur.

Buta Singh,his wife Rajpreet Kaur and her cousins — Nirmal Singh and Sarabjeet Singh — were arrested for murdering Jagar Singh as he refused to hand over 2 acres of land to Buta.

Jagar Singh,his wife Jaswant Kaur used to stay with their elder son Tarsem and his family at Badrukhan village. Of the 12 acres of land he owned,he had given eight acres to Tarsem and four acres to Buta. However,Buta wanted 6 acres and for this,often used to fight with father and brother,SSP H S Bhullar said.

On February 28,Buta called Jagar Singh and took him to a room built at the fields. There,the accused murdered Jagar Singh with hammers and swords. Later,the body was thrown in Nadampur canal,said Bhullar.

The same day,Jaswant Kaur got an FIR registered alleging that her husband had gone missing. Following this,the arrests were made. “The accused have confessed to their crime,” said the SSP.
