Sodhi,his PA booked for ‘false’ case

A day after DGP Sumedh Singh Saini claimed that Congress MLA from Guruharsahai,Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi,had “fabricated a story” that Akali activists attacked him on May 7,the Ferozepur police on Tuesday booked him for filing a “false” complaint. Sodhi’s personal assistant Naseeb Singh Sandhu has also been booked.

“While Sodhi,along with his supporter Jangir Singh,has been asked to appear before Guruharsahai sub-divisional magistrate court tomorrow,Sandhu,who had alleged that he was shot at by SAD workers,has been asked to be present in the Ferozepur chief judicial magistrate’s court on July 2,” SSP Varinder Pal Singh said.

Meanwhile,Sodhi on Tuesday accused the SAD-BJP government of murdering democracy in Punjab. “SAD and BJP leaders have made a mockery of governance. It had made the district administration totally paralysed and subservient to their whims and fancies,” he said.

He added: “In its campaign for zila parishad and block samiti elections,complete lawlessness prevailing due to the unholy collusion between Akali cadres,the local police and the district level administration.”
