Sheena Bora murder case: Mumbai Police team questions Das in Kolkata

A Mumbai Police team today seized a laptop and papers related to bank accounts and investments of Indrani Mukerjea's former husband and co-accused Sanjeev Khanna in the Sheena Bora murder case from his residence in the southern part of the city.

A team of Mumbai Police reached Kolkata Wednesday to question Indrani Mukerjea’s former live-in partner Siddartha Das. They also seized several articles from the house where her former husband Sanjeev Khanna lived.

The two-member team first went to Sanjeev Khanna’s friend Ajay Rawla’s residence on Penn Road in Alipore area, where he used to live, and seized his mobile phone and a laptop.

Police sources said it was suspected that Khanna and Indrani had made plans to kill Sheena Bora over video chats. The police suspect there could be vital digital evidence in the laptop and the mobile phone and those would be sent for forensic tests. The police said while it had been established that Indrani and Khanna used to keep in touch on Facebook, it needed to be verified if they had sent emails to each other.

The team also seized Khanna’s bank account details. The police sources said Khanna had become very affluent in the last three years but there was no proper explanation as to what was his source of income. His Facebook profile said he had started a restaurant too.

In the evening, the team went to the Dum Dum residence of Siddartha Das. “Accompanied by officials of the local police station, they had come over a little after 8 pm and questioned him and his wife for about half an hour. Das would not have to go to Mumbai at the moment but if need be he is ready to go there and cooperate in all possible way,” said Rinku Dey Dutta, Councillor, Ward 1, Dum Dum Municipality.

It was learnt that an official from the Mumbai Police had called Das last evening and this morning, asking him to remain prepared for questioning.
