Sena LS ticket for 26/11 martyr’s widow?

There is speculation that Sena is planning to field 26/11 terror attack martyr Vijay Salaskar's wife Smita from Mumbai North Central seat.

Is Shiv Sena planning to field 26/11 terror attack martyr and encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar’s wife Smita from Mumbai North Central Lok Sabha seat?

After media reports in this regard,the Sena on Tuesday said it would announce an appropriate candidate at an appropriate time.

“The party leadership will decide on an appropriate candidate at an appropriate time,” Sena spokesperson Neelam Gorhe said,adding she was unaware of the party leadership discussing electoral prospects of Salaskar’s wife.

The slain encounter specialist,killed during the November 26 Mumbai terror attack,was a Sena ‘shakha pramukh’ before joining the police force. Smita met Sena chief Bal Thackeray recently at his residence ‘Matoshree’ in suburban Bandra.

During the meeting,Thackeray lauded the bravery of Salaskar,Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ had reported.

Smita Salaskar described her visit to ‘Matoshree’ as a courtesy call. “Bal Thackeray is like a father figure to me.

It will be wrong to draw any political inferences based on the meeting,” she had said.

The North Central Lok Sabha seat comprises Dadar assembly constituency,a Sena stronghold,but the party lost the seat in 2004 as Sena nominee Manohar Joshi,a former Lok Sabha Speaker,was trounced by Eknath Gaikwad of Congress.
