Security forces bust a terrorist hideout in J&K days before I-Day parade

The hideout was "well concealed" and located deep inside the forests at Chhachchha.

Less than a fortnight ahead of the Independence Day parade, security forces busted a terrorist hideout in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Pointing out that the hideout was “well concealed” and located deep inside the forests at Chhachchha, a defence ministry spokesman Lt Colonel Maneesh Mehta said that the security forces seized arms, ammunition and explosives from there. The busted hideout belonged to Lashkar-e-Toiba as some leaves of LeT letter pad were also seized from there.

The seized arms and explosives included an AK 47 rifle and a 7.62 mm Chinese pistol along with their ammunition, a radio set and two IEDs and one an eight kg cylindrical shape and another 2.5 kg in a metal box, besides four Chinese hand grenades, one RPG rocket, seven UBGL grenades, one binocular, a combat pattern jacket.

Meanwhile, in yet another incident of ceasefire violation, Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing at three forward Indian positions along the Line of Control (LoC) in Shahpur area of Poonch sector on Tuesday.

Pointing out that small arms and automatic weapons fire from across the LoC started at 11.30 am, the defence ministry spokesman said that the Indian army also retaliated. The exchange of fire between two sides continued till afternoon. However, there was no damage or casualty on the Indian side.
