Another Punjab and Haryana High Court bench on Friday recused from hearing a petition filed by Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, demanding quashing of his summons ordered by a lower court.
The bench recused from hearing the case after advocate Navkiran Singh counsel for complainant in the case requested so.
The petition had come up for hearing before Justice L N Mittal.
Following the request,Mittal referred the matter to another bench.
This is the second bench, which has refrained from hearing the case. Earlier, another single bench had recused from deciding the case.
Rajinder Singh Sidhu, the complainant in the case, had lodged a complaint on May 20,2007 against dera head for allegedly playing with the sentiments of Sikhs by wearing a controversial robe, which had triggered a row between dera followers and Sikhs.
A case was registered against him under sections 295A,298,153A of the IPC. A lower court, last month, had summoned the dera chief. Following this,he had moved the high court against the order.
