‘Runaway bride whisked away at gunpoint’

However,in a strange case a lawyer from Panchkula,apprehending threat to his life knocked the doors of High Court alleging that he was made to let go of the runaway bride from his residence at “gun point”.

The lawyer has alleged that when he was preparing the case for a runaway couple in his house in Sector 21,Panchkula,over four dozen persons,relatives of the runaway bride,reached his house. He alleged that the relatives took away the bride,resident of Karnal,at gunpoint threatening the lawyer of dire consequences.

Taking strong note of the allegations levelled,the High Court had come to the lawyer’s rescue on last Friday and had issued notices to the Deputy Commissioner,Panchkula and Superintendent of Police (SP),Karnal. Swinging into action the Panchkula Police arrested eight persons who allegedly threatened the lawyer.

Significantly,the runaway bride alleged in the Court that she was thrashed by her family members.

The runaway bride recorded her statement that she was forcefully taken away by her parents and relative members. She also deposed that she wants to remain with her husband. Recording her statement,the High Court released the bride and set the couple free.

On the other hand,relatives of the runaway bride who are accused of taking the bride on a gun point appeared in the Court and submitted that they were not carrying any weapons when they went to the residence of the lawyer.

The accused have vehemently denied the allegations of criminal intimidation and abduction levelled against them.

To verify the authenticity of the accusations levelled by the lawyer,the High Court has directed the Panchkula Police to investigate as to whether the allegations levelled against the accused are correct.

Also,the Police have been directed to find out as to whether the lawyer was threatened at a gun point or not. The orders passed by the High Court were made available today. The Police has been given four weeks time to submit the status report of the investigation.
