Rotten ration: Sukma food officials suspended
The ration was dispatched in around 20 trucks after six months under heavy security of paramilitary forces.
Four officers, including Sukma food officer K R Pisda, and two food inspectors were suspended late Tuesday evening for their failure to check the quality of ration that was sent to Jagargunda last week. The suspension orders were issued on the directives of Chief Minister Raman Singh.
The ration was dispatched in around 20 trucks after six months under heavy security of paramilitary forces who took nearly 30 hours to travel 54 km through the Maoist zone of Sukma district. Many road opening parties were deployed and extensive demining exercises were done.
But when it reached Jagargunda most of the edibles were found to be rotten. Significantly, the matter could come to notice because some local journalists had accompanied the convoy and reported about the ration after their return. Sukma Collector Emil Lakda has now issued orders to send fresh ration soon.
