In the backdrop of release of Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Mohd Saeed,France on Thursday said a determined commitment by Pakistan is absolutely indispensable for prosecuting those responsible for the Mumbai attacks. While having noted that this is a court decision,France is following with the greatest attention the developments of the investigation on the attacks perpetrated in Mumbai from 26th to 29th November 2008, French Foreign ministry spokesperson Eric Chevallier said in his reaction to Saeed's release in Lahore yesterday. Saeed,a prime accused in the Mumbai attacks case, was set free yesterday by the Lahore High Court after a six-month detention. Chevallier,in a statement released here, said France considers that the determined commitment of the Pakistani authorities is absolutely indispensable for making progress in the investigation and prosecuting those responsible for these attacks. France is counting on such a commitment, the only thing capable of shedding complete light on these attacks and reinforcing the fight against terrorism. The spokesperson said this is a demand that is owed above all to the victims and their families.
