In yet another ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops,a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the India Army was reportedly killed on Monday in LoC firing in Uri Sector of Baramullah district.
He said the injured JCO was rushed to a army medical facility where he succumbed to injuries. Chand hailed from Uttarkhand.
The spokesman said the matter has been taken with Pakistani authorities on hotline.
Notably,a BSF jawan was killed and three others injured as Pakistani mortars rained on R S Pura,Arnia,Ramgarh and Akhnoor sectors along the International Border (IB) on Tuesday night.
The prolonged gunbattle on the International Border in the Jammu region has been intensifying. The reports indicated that the Pakistani army has stepped in to assist the Pakistani Rangers that was guarding the border so far,prompting India’s Border Security Force (BSF) to rush in reinforcements to man the border outposts.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday last had said he was disappointed with his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif and asked him “even at this late hour” to recognise that what was happening on the LoC and International Border is not good for the two nations.

In September last,Singh and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif decided to task their respective Directors General of Military Operations with suggesting “effective means to restore the ceasefire and a way forward to ensure that that remains in force and in place.”
Also,Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde had recently said that India will give befitting reply to Pakistan.
Unprovoked firing by Pakistan has spoiled the festivity in border villages.
