BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will take time off his busy schedule to watch a dance festival on Sunday in which three top contemporary Indian classical dancers are participating. Modi,who will be in the capital for a BJP rally,will watch dancers perform in the festival "The Divinity Series" that attempts to "channel all things divine". The festival opened on Friday before a packed audience at Chinmaya Mission with a superb performance by Rama Vaidyanathan. Union HRD Minister M M Pallam Raju was among those present. Saturday's dance by Meenakshi Srinivasan will be attended by L K Advani. Tomorrow's concluding performance will feature Mythili Prakash. The three-day festival is showcasing top dancers in the field of Bharatanatyam in its inaugural edition that kick-started here last evening in the presence of Union HRD Minister Pallam Raju with a recital by Rama Vaidyanathan. "We have extended invitation to many people across the spectrum. Advaniji is expected to come for this evening's performance and we have confirmation that Narendra Modi will be coming for September 29 performance of Mythili Prakash," Deepak Shourie,the organiser said. Shourie,a corporate industry veteran,along with his wife Jyotsana has conceptualised the festival that aims to "showcase the divine in every human being." "We are very fortunate that they are coming to the event. We had the IG of Gujarat Police overseeing security arrangements for Modi's presence here. The event falls under the Gujarat Chief Minister's itinerary of events," he said. "The idea was born as our effort to promote Indian culture. We believe a large and growing population of younger people,the young generation who are interested in this field of divinity but do not get opportunities. "We are telecasting across the world live on Facebook web streaming and on DD Bharti,our partners," Shourie said. "We believe that this opportunity to reach out to young generation will give this cultural divinity series a major boost," he said. Last evening's programme began with an invocation by a choir from the Gandhrava school of music followed by "Mayur Alarippu" by Rama Vaidyanathan,who tried to capture the movement dynamic of the peacock in her first dance. Meenakshi Srinivasan and Mythili Prakash are scheduled to perform on September 28 and September 29 respectively at the Chinmaya auditorium here.
