Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh
A day after the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is monitoring the probe in the MPPEB scam, submitted a report labelling the evidence produced by Congress leader Digvijaya Singh as “forgery”, the BJP on Saturday launched a frontal attack on the AICC general secretary accusing him of “hatching a conspiracy” to defame MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
“We won’t sit idle. On the political front, we will disrobe him because he has crossed all limits of democracy,’’ BJP chief Nandkumar Chouhan said and suggested that Singh could be in trouble with the party getting in touch with legal experts to see if criminal proceedings could be initiated against the Congress leader for misleading the judiciary.

The BJP chief claimed the court order had proved that “the CM has come out unscathed from the agni pariksha.’’ The CM was himself expected to react to the court order at a scheduled press conference, but chose to talk about the state’s earthquake preparedness.
While Digvijaya Singh said he was stunned and disappointed by the order, the Congress accused BJP leaders of misinterpreting the court’s order. “A case should be lodged against the state BJP chief for his wrong interpretation of the SIT’s prima facie opinion,’’ chief spokesman K K Mishra said. He said the order does not mention either Digvijaya Singh or whistleblower Prashant Pande who had given the documents/evidence to him.
A case for contempt of court should also be slapped against government spokesman and parliamentary affairs minister Narottam Mishra and transport minister Bhupendra Singh, the Congress said, adding that the court’s final order is expected on April 27.
