Maha Govt to probe illegal recruitment of Bangladeshi workers

The Maharashtra Government said it will probe the Opposition's claim that several Bangladeshi migrants had been illegally recruited in the state industries.

The Maharashtra Government on Thursday said it will probe the Opposition’s claim that several Bangladeshi migrants had been illegally recruited in the state industries at the cost of locals.

A meeting would be held soon to review the illegal recruitment of Bangladeshis and workers from other states in the state industries,Labour Minister Nawab Malik told the Legislative Assembly.

The minister’s directive came after Speaker Babasaheb Kupekar asked the government to verify the complaints that Bangladeshis had been recruited in large numbers in these units at the cost of locals.

Replying to a query by BJP member Vishnu Sawra during the Question Hour,the minister said the government would probe allegations that locals had been deprived of jobs and Bangladeshis and others were recruited in their place in several industries.

Sawra alleged that in Shahapur of Thane district,a large number of industries had recruited Bangladeshis and workers from other states and ignored the locals.
