Love jihad victims face injustice, says RSS

Love jihad should not be seen with communal aspect only, says Suresh Joshi of RSS.

The RSS feels that girls who fell victim to love jihad have to suffer and face injustice which is unfortunate. RSS also said that Hindu society was facing the issue of love jihad from past 10-15 years.

RSS’s Sarkaryawah Suresh Joshi on Monday said that after the incident of love jihad reported in Jharkhand, media has started reporting such incidents and society has started speaking on the issue boldly. Joshi said that love jihad should not be seen with communal aspect only because it is a behaviour that also makes the girl feel victimised.

He said that love jihad was an issue for entire society and RSS was standing with the society against love jihad. Joshi also said that love
jihad incidents were shameful and legal aspects should be explored in the such matters and administration too should take serious actions in such cases. Issue of love jihad was raised in the meeting of RSS’s all India working committee on Sunday.

When asked if there was any programme to associate people from religions other than Hindu when RSS was on target of oppositions of being communal, Joshi said, “We welcome if any person from other religion comes to join RSS. But we have never spoken for making any special efforts for them.”

Joshi also said that few non-Hindus who understand the ideology of RSS have shown interest in RSS but RSS from the beginning has worked for creating awareness among Hindus and their empowerment with an idea that their awareness is essential for creating desired ideal conditions for the country.

“Hence, from the first step, we have taken pledge to create awareness among Hindus and consolidate as well as empower the Hindu society. But we are not partial against any one on the lines of religion or method of worship,” Joshi said. He said that some elements were trying to malign the image of RSS.

When asked about RSS’s definition of ‘Hindu’, Joshi said that any person who calls himself ‘Hindu’ is a ‘Hindu’ for RSS.

Joshi was addressing the media persons, a day after three-day meet of RSS’s all India working committee concluded in Lucknow. On the first day of meet, RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Manmohan Vaidya had said that there was no ‘minority’ in the country and the people living in India were culturally Hindus.

When asked if Ram Temple issue was discussed in the meeting, Joshi said that Ram Temple had been an issue of discussion for RSS always. “Ram temple exists at its place which is fact but the current issue is giving the temple a grand size. Current government in the Centre in its election manifesto had promised to take steps for removing hurdles from the path of building the grand temple. A case is also subjudice in Supreme Court in this regard. I believe that the government will take the issue seriously and we should wait for some time,” Joshi said.

When asked about the NDA government’s recent stand on disclosure of names of those who have allegedly deposited black money in foreign banks, Joshi said that if government had given any assurance, they should remove the hurdles coming in way of fulfillment of their promise and RSS too expect that the government should make such efforts.

Joshi said that RSS never worked in favour of any political party in elections and it only run campaign to appeal people to cast their vote.
He said that low voter turn out in Mumbai was unfortunate. He said that RSS will continue working to increase voters turn out in future too.

Joshi said that RSS, before Lok Sabha elections, had talked for ‘change’ but it has not spoken against any particular party. He said that change (in the Centre) occurred because the public was feeling victimised from past few years. Corruption and issue of border security is also making mood of change in the mind of public, he said.
