Licences forged for police driver posts

All the cases have been registered on the basis of complaints from the DCP (Establishment),who was in charge of the recruitment drive for drivers,in the rank of constables,to drive police vehicles during the Games.

Additional CP (Central) Devesh Srivastava said: “I would not like to comment on the ongoing investigation. But I can tell you this that none of the accused were hired by the Delhi Police during the Games.”

Police sources said it was discovered during investigation that as many as 127 forged licences were issued allegedly by Transport officials in Mathura and Agra. The police were now trying to find the kingpin of the racket.

“We will file a chargesheet anytime soon. So far,around 32 people have been arrested. The accused are not linked to each other. Our officers trying to nab the main culprits,” an investigating officer said.

The IP Estate police station is investigating 165 cases,while the district investigation unit a other police stations in Central district are probing the rest.

Officers in IP Estate police station were questioning Kapur Singh of Majra Dabas in Kanjhawala and Parvesh Kumar of Ghaziabad,who were held on Tuesday,for details about their role in the case.
