Telangana’s Anti-Corruption Bureau officials on Sunday made available to a section of the media an audio recording of a purported conversation between Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu and a member of the Anglo-Indian community who later became embroiled in a bribe scandal.
In the audio, Naidu is heard allegedly speaking briefly with Elvis Stephenson, who was later nominated as an MLA by his community, just before elections for five seats to the Telangana Legislative Council were held last Monday. Naidu was apparently assuring Stephenson of support.

Telangana TDP MLA Revanth Reddy was arrested last Sunday by ACB for allegedly trying to bribe Stephenson to vote in favour of a TDP nominee in the council elections. The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) won all the five seats for which polls were held.
In the audio tape, Naidu allegedly tells Stephenson: “How are you? I am with you, don’t bother. For everything we are with you. What all they spoke we will honour. Really you can decide, no problem at all. For your commitment we will work together.”
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao met Governor E S L Narasimhan late Sunday to discuss the ACB case against Reddy and inform him about the recording allegedly involving Naidu, officials said.
The ACB was granted four days’ custody of Reddy on Saturday by a court.
