Lashkar-e-Taiba’s chief coordinator Manzoor arrested in Kashmir

It is the third major breakthrough after the arrest of Yasin Bhatkal and Tunda.

In yet another breakthrough by the security agencies,a top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander was arrested from Baramulla district of Kashmir.

Manzoor alias Shams Bhai,the ‘chief coordinator’ of the militant outfit was arrested during a joint operation by Army and police from Pattan area of Baramulla,an army official said.

He said Manzoor was responsible for LeT’s militant activities in Kashmir Valley.

It is the third major achievement for Indian agencies after the arrest of Indian Mujahideen co-founder and one of India’s most wanted terrorists Yasin Bhatkal on August 29 and Lashkar-e-Taiba bomb expert Abdul Karim Tunda on August 16.

Bhatkal,who is listed in the Most Wanted List of the NIA,was arrested along with another Indian Mujahideen operative,Akhtar on August 29. Bhatkal was arrested from the Indo-Nepal border in north Bihar after being on the run for over five years.

30-year-old Yasin had been on the run since 2008. The IM leader is wanted in a string of terror attacks in Ahmedabad,Surat,Bangalore,Pune,Delhi and Hyderabad.

On August 16,Delhi Police had arrested Abdul Karim Tunda alias Abdul Quddooss,one of India’s top 20 wanted terrorists,and mastermind of over 40 bombings in the country,from Indo-Nepal border.

70-year-old Tunda was one of 20 terrorists India had demanded the Pakistani government to hand over after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.
