The Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court,Arjan Kumar Sikri,is all set to be elevated to the Supreme Court. It has been reliably learnt that his name has been cleared by the apex court collegium with only formal orders to ensue. The entire procedure,however,takes nearly a month.
Justice A K Sikri did his B Com (Hons) from Shriram College of Commerce,Delhi University,and LLB from the Campus Law Centre,Delhi University. A gold medallist,he holds the unique distinction of securing first position in all six semesters of his LLB course. Having served as the president of the Campus Law Centre,Delhi University,he was also a member of the varsitys Academic Council.
Justice Sikri enrolled as an advocate with the Bar Council of Delhi in July,1977. He has served as the vice-president of the Delhi High Court Bar Association during 1994-95. He was designated as a senior advocate by the Delhi High Court in 1997,before being appointed as a Judge in 1999. He took over as the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on September 23,2012.
