Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday met Governor N N Vohra here and apprised him of measures taken by the government for restoration of normalcy in the strife-torn state. During an over hour-long meeting,Omar briefed the Governor about developments consequent to the visit of the all-party delegation to Srinagar and Jammu and measures underway for restoration of normalcy in the Valley,particularly regarding functioning of educational institutions. Schools,colleges and universities reopened in Srinagar and other parts of the Valley on Monday after remaining closed for over three months,but students attendance remained abysmal due to tense situation. The two leaders also discussed major issues before the forthcoming session of the state legislature,an official spokesman said. The state Assembly is meeting here on September 30 and is expected to be stormy as the opposition parties are preparing to corner the National Conference-Congress coalition government over varied issues including the law and order situation. Kashmir Valley has been in the grip of violent protests since June 11 when a 17-year-old boy was killed after he was hit by a tear smoke shell during clashes at Rajouri Kadal in interior city.
