To be embroiled in a political war could be the last thing which A R Rahman must have thought for his Oscar-winning signature tune 'Jai Ho'. But main opposition BJP today claimed that the song would ensure the defeat of ruling Congress in the Lok Sabha polls. Reacting to Congress' adoption of the 'Slumdog Millionaire' for its campaign,BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said 'Jai Ho' would ensure that Congress gets defeated in the Lok Sabha polls. Everytime people listen to the song they would be reminded of the slums and poor people across the country which is the result of the almost 50 years of Congress rule, he claimed. BJP also said Congress' idea of adopting a movie song was an evidence of non-performance of the ruling alliance. The very fact that it has rented a song from a movie is evidence enough of the non-performance of the Congress-led alliance, BJP general secretary Arun Jaitley said. These all are measures of cheap publicity and you need to opt for it only when you have nothing tangible in performance to tell to the people. It is not at all serious politics. Opting for cheap publicity is a loud evidence of non-performance, Jaitley added. Congress will be using 'Jai Ho' exclusively during its campaign and has bought the song and the tune from T-Series. The party had used the SRK starrer 'Chak De's theme song unsuccessfully in the last Gujarat assembly polls.
