In revised HCS exam result,468 more candidates make the cut

The revised results were declared on Tuesday and have been posted on the official website of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

A total of 468 candidates benefitted after three “wrong” answers were corrected and three “ambiguous” questions were deleted from the preliminary examination paper for the Haryana Civil Services (HCS),Judicial. The revised results were declared on Tuesday and have been posted on the official website of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. (www.highcourt.chd.gov.in).

There had been a furore over the exams after some “unsuccessful” candidates approached the court by pointing out that there had been errors in the answer keys for the exam. The 468,who gained from the revised results, will now join 791 candidates (including all categories) who had earlier made it to the merit list for the main examination. A committee constituted by the High Court,on the administrative side, lowered the cut-off for the main exam (likely to be held in May) from 309.6 to 288.8.

The issue was raised by “unsuccessful” candidates who had approached the High Court alleging that as many as eleven questions had wrong answer keys. A petition was filed initially by three candidates, who demanded quashing of the merit list and a stay on the main examination.

Calling the selection process “tainted”,the petitioners had also submitted that not only were answer keys incorrect but a few of questions were “ambiguous”.

In response,a registrar of the High Court, last week, had apprised the Court that a committee was constituted to examine the “alleged wrong answer keys” and that “the result will be re-generated.”

A division bench headed by Justice Hemant Gupta,on Monday, had extended the last date for applying to the main examination to April 30. The Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) was directed to issue a fresh advertisement in this regard. A bunch of petitions were filed by unsuccessful candidates in the High Court. It will come up for hearing on April 30.
