IED detection disrupts traffic on Jammu-Srinagar highway

Security forces detected an improvised explosive device (IED) on Jammu-Srinagar highway leading to blockage of traffic.

Vehicular traffic on the 300-km long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway remained disrupted for nearly three hours following detection of an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by militants on the roadside at Wagan,178 km from Jammu,on Tuesday morning.

The IED was detected around 8 am by a joint patrol party of the J-K Police and security forces. The vehicular traffic plying on the highway from both Kashmir and Banihal side was stopped to avoid any untoward incident and bomb disposal squad was pressed into service to defuse it.
