Sources in the police said that the separatist leaders were not allowed to visit Narbal as it could have deteriorated law and order situation, in the area that witnessed heavy clashes between the security forces and stone throwing youth after the death of a youth.
Separatist leader and JKLF Chairman Yasin Malik along with social activist Swami Agnavesh was also detained by the police in the afternoon and were not allowed to visit Narbal.
Though, Malik was taken to Kothi Bagh police station in Srinagar, Agnavhesh was taken to Srinagar airport, from where he boarded the flight to Delhi. Malik was also released later, by the police.
Police officials said that Malik was detained near Budshah chowk, after he tried to leave for Narbal from the Maisuma area, where he earlier began his 30-hour-long hunger to protest against the “composite townships” for the rehabilitation of Kashmir Pandits in the valley. Swami Agnivesh had also joined Malik in his hunger strike.
