Hooda still open to Industrial Model Township at Ambala

He made it clear that his decision regarding setting up of an IMT in Ambala been not beneficial for the people.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda is still open to the idea of setting up of an Industrial Model Township (IMT) at Ambala which had been put in limbo in the aftermath of opposition from opposition parties.

Official sources told here today that the CM made his government’s stand clear during a function organized on the martyrdom day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh,Rajguru and Sukhdev by former Union Minister and MLA Ambala City Venod Sharma.

Hooda said that initially he had announced to set up two IMTs,one in district Ambala and another in his own assembly constituency, but due to protest by some people in Ambala it could not materialize. He made it clear that had his decision regarding setting up of an IMT in Ambala been not beneficial for the people of the area, why would he decide to set up a similar project in his own constituency. He reminded that he has already made it clear during the recent session of Vidhan Sabha that he is still ready to set up an IMT in Ambala.

It is learnt that the proposed IMT had been designed on the pattern of Gurgaon and Faridabad. Earlier also a memorandum signed by one lakh people demanding early execution of the project was handed over to Haryana Chief Minsiter,Bhupinder Singh Hooda by Ambala legislator and former Cabinet Minister,Venod Sharm. Sharma said that those who were opposing this project for political reasons were in fact not interested in the development of Ambala.

Venod Sharma said that the proposed Industrial Model Township would create atleast one lakh jobs and would be a boon for the youth. The farmers, whose land would be acquired for the project, have been assured by the Chief Minister that they would get compensation on revised rates and other incentives too would be given to them. He urged those opposing the project to desist from politicising this issue. He said that although there had been all round development in Ambala Constituency during last six years and thousands of youth have got employment, yet industrial development of the area was necessary to resolve the problem of unemployment.

While describing Hooda as a fast emerging leader of the country, former Union Minister and MLA Venod Sharma criticized those who had opposed the setting up of IMT in Ambala saying that by doing this, they had rendered lakhs of youth jobless as IMT that was to be set up over 2000 acres of area could provided employment opportunities to lakhs of youth not only of Ambala district, but also of adjoining areas of Panchkula,Yamunangar,Jagadhari,Kurukshetra and Sadhora. Industrialization was necessary to secure the future of our coming generations as government jobs were limited. He said that initially IMT was set up at Gurgaon and Manesar and today Gurgaon was a world famous city.

Hooda said that though Ambala is a gateway to Haryana,it has been neglected by the previous governments in terms of development. Citing official statistics, Hooda said that during the six year tenure of INLD-BJP Government from 1999 to 2005 in the State a sum of Rs. 413.92 crore had been spent in district Ambala whereas during last eight years, Rs. 2703.58 crore had so far been spent by the present State Government on various development works in the same area. He said that Rs. 976.07 crore had been spent in Ambala City constituency during the last eight years. Inclusive development was being ensured throughout the State,he added.
