After going paperless a year ago, the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha on Monday launched a mobile app — another technological initiative, to equip MLAs and ministers with world-class facilities on their phones and tabloids to facilitate their smart-working.
Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh launched the app, which will enable all 68 members of the assembly, including Chief Parliamentary Secretaries (CPS), besides Speaker and Deputy Speaker, to get the entire House business, to be laid in the House, 45 minutes before the beginning of the daily proceedings.
Speaker B B L Butail said the MLAs will be provided the information of the entire proceedings of the House in the digital form on their mobile sets and tabloids immediately after end of the day’s work.
“What’s more significant is that the ministers who have to reply to the House, can seek supplementary replies on their mobiles from the administrative secretaries. The app will have different folders under separate heads to get the entire information at press of a button. There is no need to look for papers. Imagine how much time and money savings it will be?” Butail said.
The app will also give notifications of the Vidhan Sabha’s press releases, bulletins, budget speeches, documents and the bills tabled in the House.
In the next phase, Vidhan Sabha proposes to launch e-Vidhan (phase-II) to facilitate MLAs in their constituency management works and attending grievances of the people online and also interacting with officials of the constituency.
