A day after the Supreme Court refused to give an urgent hearing to a PIL seeking judicial inquiry into a woman judge’s allegation of sexual harassment, a group of advocates from the Gwalior bench of Madhya Pradesh threw their weight behind Justice S K Gangele in a representation to the Chief Justice of India.
In a signed letter, the advocates said that the additional woman judge’s allegations against Justice Gangele were contrary to facts and that she was transferred to Sidhi on administrative grounds by a committee comprising two High Court justices.
The former additional district judge allegedly had given anticipatory bail in 18 cases of serious crimes such as rape and sexual harassment following which the Gwalior district judge took the matter up with the Principal Registrar (Vigilance) and wrote two letters to the Jabalpur-based registrar general, the letter said.
