Punjabi University,Patiala, has denied any links with the student, who was allegedly admitted by Guru Nanak Girls College (GNGC),Model Town,in BBA second year for session 2012-13.
Jaspreet Kaur had failed in BBA first year examination in the same college and was granted admission to Panjab University (PU),Chandigarh,on the basis of fake BBA-1 marksheet and migration certificate issued in the name of Punjabi University,Patiala.
The letters sent by the Punjabi University,Patiala,to PU,Chandigarh (copies of which are with The Indian Express) deny having records of any such student with roll number 4732 in 2011 or 2012 in BBA course.
The PU had earlier sent copies of the fake migration and passing certificates to the Punjabi University,Patiala, for clarification. As per our records of 2011 and 2012,no Jaspreet Kaur with roll number 4732 took admission in BBA-1, says the letter. Similarly, another letter written to Deputy Registrar (Colleges),PU,Chandigarh by Patiala varsity says Jaspreet is not registered with our university and the migration certificate submitted by the candidate to your university is not issued by our branch, hence it is fake.
Not only this, the admission papers have also revealed that the student was admitted to the second year even before the declarations of first year result.
The PU has also written to Police Commissioner,P S Gill,Ludhiana,to get a criminal case registered against the principal of the GNGC college and her accomplices for getting the student admitted on forged documents.
However,Ekjot Cheema, speaking on behalf of GNGC college authorities, said: We too agree that the papers produced by Jaspreet Kaur to get admission were forged, but our principal and president were not involved in it. They were not even present in the city when this happened. They are being trapped in a conspiracy.
Gill, meanwhile, said: I am yet to look into the complaint letter by PU V-C.
