Engineer sent to judicial custody for torturing maid

A software engineer from Noida has been arrested and sent to 14 days judicial custody for allegedly torturing her minor domestic help.

The 14-year-old girl,who was hired as domestic help through a Delhi-based placement agency by Meenakshi Singh,has alleged that she was beaten up by her employer over small mistakes. Noida police said the girl was spotted by morning walkers crying in a park on Saturday.

She was then brought to the police station,where she alleged that she beaten up by her employer,whose husband used to lock her in a room as punishment, a police officer said.

Singh is a resident of Swagat Apartments in Sector-62.

Officials said there are visible injury marks on the girls body; her detailed medical examination will be conducted on Monday.

Police are also looking for two agents of the Delhi-based placement agency,which allegedly trafficked the girl from Jharkhand.
