The Election Commission ordered transfer of Andhra Pradesh DGP S S P Yadav who reportedly praised Chief Minister Y S Rajsekhara Reddy during an official tour. The Commission also sought a panel of names from the state government by Friday for his replacement,an EC spokesman said. The state CEO had earlier sought an explanation from the DGP for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct by speaking in favour of the ruling party and government during his tour of Kurnool and Mahabubnagar districts sometime back. The CEO had also asked the DGP to submit the video cassette of his speech. The Opposition alliance in the state alleged that the DGP had addressed the meeting in Kurnool to educate police officers on the Model Code of Conduct for elections, but praised the Chief Minister sky-high. In a separate directive to the Bihar government, the EC ordered transfer of District Magistrate of Saran district.
