The BJP ideology was once ridiculed but now it is respected, BJP president Amit Shah said on Sunday while crediting three generations of leadership for laying the foundation for today’s electoral success.
Recalling the contribution of veterans, Shah told a convention of elected representatives that they owe their victories to the relentless toil of the seniors since the Jan Sangh days of 1951. “Take a pledge that you won’t do anything that will damage the party’s image,” he said and told the elected representatives that if they worked selflessly it will be difficult to defeat the BJP for years.

While praising Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the party president averred that Madhya Pradesh has become the first state where the BJP is ruling from panchayat to Parliament, and has backed it by enrolling more than one crore members. “Your spirit is worth imitating,” he said.
Shah said the Narendra Modi led government was completely free from corruption unlike the UPA government where scams were common. “The opposition has not dared to accuse us of one instance of corruption in the nearly one-year of the NDA government,” he said.
He said it was the Modi government that relaxed for the first time since Independence norms for compensation to crop damage. Attacking the Congress for misleading farmers on the land acquisition bill, Shah said the amendments don’t have provision for giving one-inch land to corporate houses. “The farmer will get four times the value of his land, of which he can invest one part to buy land elsewhere and the rest to invest,” Shah said.
