In an apparent reference to the ongoing agitation by separatists in Jammu and Kashmir,Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said there is no need to disturb the peaceful life of people as effective democratic means are available to register protests. There is no reason to indulge in violence and putting general public to hardships when effective democratic means are available to register protests, he said addressing a gathering here. Stressing that violence has never been an answer to any problem,Omar said,My Government is committed to facilitate dialogue between all shades of opinion in the state and the Central government. We are positively working in this direction. We also favour sustained dialogue between India and Pakistan. This is the only way forward to address political issues politically in a democratic atmosphere, he added. Omar said strikes only lead to public discomfort and hit the education of the children. These tactics are in nobodys interest. These only mar the livelihood of poor and hamper the process of economic growth. Taking a dig on those instigating adolescent children for stone pelting,he said, this is the most unfortunate behaviour of politicians who mar the future of young generation."
