A young couple allegedly committed suicide at Ratera village in Bhiwani district on Wednesday. Their bodies were discovered by a villager in the village fields in the morning.
According to preliminary investigation by the police,the deceased both belonging to the Rajput community were in a relationship for the last few months but their families were against their marriage.
The deceased have been identified as Sonu and Pooja a resident of Ratera. While Sonu (19) used to work as a salesman at a shop in Chang village in Bhiwani,Pooja (15) was a student of Class IX.
Poojas parents had found her missing from her room on Tuesday night and started looking for her. When they failed to trace her,they informed the police.
Bawani Khera police station SHO Devinder Singh said: Sonu and Pooja apparently consumed some poisonous substance. A bottle of poison was also recovered from near the bodies. The village sarpanch had searched the boys belongings and identified him as a resident of Chang village in Bhiwani district.
The girls relatives have identified her body and claimed it after postmortem examination. We have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC, he added.
A box of sweets,a wallet,a cellphone belonging to Sonu and a bill of an insecticide,which they deceased consumed,were also recovered from near their bodies. According to the police,Sonu had purchased the insecticide from a shop in Bhiwani and met Pooja on the outskirts of Ratera. Both then went to the fields and committed suicide.
