Cold wave continues in J-K

Clear sky overnight further intensified the cold wave which gripped the state as mercury dipped further on Wednesday by few notches across Jammu and Kashmir.

The minimum temperature in Kargil slipped to minus 14.4 as against minus 13.2 degrees Celsius yesterday,Met office said.

Nearby Leh district recorded night temperature at minus 9.4 degrees Celsius.

Pahalgam in south Kashmir continued to be the coldest place in the valley with a low of minus 5.3 degrees Celsius as against minus 4.5 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

Srinagar recorded a low of minus 3.4 degrees Celsius as compared to minus 2.3 degrees Celsius yesterday.

Qazigund in south Kashmir and Kupwara in north Kashmir registered a minimum of minus 3.6 and minus 3.5 degree Celsius,respectively.

However,the night temperature in Kokernag hill resort was at minus 1.9 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

In Jammu region,Banihal was the coldest place with a minimum of minus 1.9 degree Celsius,while night temperature in Jammu dipped to 4.4 degrees Celsius as against 5.2 degrees Celsius yesterday.

Katra,the base camp for Vaishnodevi,also recorded a low of 6.4 degree Celsius. Batote and Bhaderwah recorded a minimum of 3.4 and 0.4 degrees Celsius,respectively.
