Children of slain militants get financial help from J-K govt

J-K government disbursed cheques worth Rs 3.60 lakhs as relief among 40 orphan children of slain militants,in Pulwama district.

The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday disbursed cheques worth Rs 3.60 lakhs as relief among 40 orphan children of slain militants,in Pulwama district.

The cheques were given under the scheme of rehabilitation of militancy victims by Social Welfare minister Sakina Itoo at a function in Pulwama.

Itoo,addressing the function organised by district social welfare department,said the government recognises and acknowledges the needs of people and it has undertaken several welfare measures and appropriate programmes to provide special assistance to the poor,destitute women,orphans and other disadvantaged and marginalised sections of the society.

She emphasised the need to speed up the process of registration and disposal of cases for assistance so that deserving people get benefitted.

Earlier,the minister laid the foundation stone of a hostel for Other Backward Class (OBC) coming up at a cost of Rs 1.34 crore to accommodate over 100 students,at a degree college in Pulwama.
