Bru repatriation: Same story in sixth and only remaining relief camp

So far, no Bru has been willing to return to Mizoram as part of the Union Home Ministry's repatriation program.

Like in other relief camps located in Tripura, no one turned up to be verified on the first day of the repatriation process in the sixth relief camp for displaced Bru tribals on Monday.

Mamit Additional Deputy Commissioner Lalbiaksangi said officials from Mizoram have set up a verification stall in Hazacherra, home to 1,017 people with votes in Mizoram, but that no one turned up on the first day.

The verification at Hazacherra will continue till August 27.

Members of the community fled Mizoram en-masse in 1997 following ethnic violence and have lived in the six relief camps in Tripura.
