Briefly Nation: 1-day-old stolen

Mumbai: A day-old boy was stolen from ward 1 of Wadia Hospital on Wednesday evening. Police said mother Jasmine Naik went to see the boy at 5.30 pm but found him missing and lodged a complaint at Bhoiwada Police Station.

“There are no CCTV cameras in or near the ward to identify the thief. Parents of the child,however,reported seeing a woman in a black and orange scarf rushing out,” a police officer said.

Fire in Kandivali

Mumbai: A fire broke out in a residential-commercial complex on 90 Feet Road at Lalji Pada in Kandivali West on Wednesday night. Kandivali Fire Station said the grade-1 blaze was reported at 22.35 pm. There were no injuries. Locals said the two-floor building housing chawls had several small processing units and fire spread due to chemicals stored in one of the units.
