BJP,National Panthers Party and Jammu State Morcha today walked out from the state Assembly criticising the Jammu and Kashmir government for leasing out to private parties,the historical seat of power of the Dogra kings,for constructing a five-star hotel.

During the Zero Hour in the Assembly,Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party member Balwant Singh Mankotia raised the issue and said they would not allow the state government to sell and lease out the Historical Mubarak Mandi Complex to private parties.

“We won’t allow the selling out of the identity of Dogras in Jammu. We will not allow the hotel to be built by the private party at the complex in the name of promotion of tourism and conservation,” Mankotia said.

The issued was also raised by BJP leader Chaman Lal Gupta,Jammu State Morcha Member Ashwani Kumar and JKNPP Harash Dev Singh and they demanded a reply from the government on it.

As they triggered ruckus in the Assembly after protests,Minister of State for Housing and urban development,Nasir Aslam Wani told the House that in order to conserve the heritage monument,a society was setup,which was looking into the its conservation and promotion.

He said that with an aim to promote tourism,cable car project between Mubarak Mandi fort complex and Bahu fort is being under taken apart from other projects.

BJP,JKNPP and JSM staged a walkout from the Assembly after their demand for a reply,was not met.

Speaking to reporters outside the Assembly,JKNPP leader Harsh Dev Singh said,”We demand immediate stoppage of the construction of a five star hotel at Mubarak mandi heritage complex by a private person. We will not allow Dogra pride monument to be put on sale.”
