A bar and restaurant owner in Bengaluru was seriously injured after two unidentified gunmen shot him down in his hotel on the Residency Road in Central Bengaluru on Sunday night.
The injured bar owner identified himself as Chetan, a native of Mangalore but police investigations revealed that his real name was Aktar Sami. Police have now identified him as a resident of Ullal in Mangalore who has a criminal record against his name. Police suspect a rivalry to be the provocation for the attack.
The shooting took place at the Times Bar and Restaurant located in the Gold Tower on Residency Road.
Two unidentified persons entered the premises at around 11.45 pm and opened fire at Chetan and others who were near the bar counter. “There were two rounds of fire. One bullet hit the wall and another hit Chetan on his back. Chetan was immediately rushed to the nearby Mallya Hospital. His condition is stable and he is out of danger,” a police official said.
Customers and bar girls ran away from the bar when the shooting began. “The medical condition of Chetan does not permit us to talk to him. We will get more information from him when we get an opportunity to question him,” a senior police officer said.
