Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley on Sunday claimed that "knowing its fate" Congress has given up the fight midway even as polling to elect assemblies in five states is still underway. "In politics,a leader loses when he stops making efforts. I have never seen such a situation where they (Congress) are making a hasty retreat," Jaitley said here. The BJP leader, while addressing 'Vijay Rath' rally of Haryana Janhit Congress, claimed that people are eager to show Congress the door, both at the Centre and in the states. The 57-day yatra, which covered 90 Assembly seats of the state,on Sunday culminated here. The HJC is also celebrating its 7th foundation day on Sunday as Kuldip Bishnoi and other senior leaders of the party and BJP from the state were present. Jaitley claimed that the Congress "has given up fight" knowing its fate. "Five states are going to polls, four of them are big states. BJP will win in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. In your (Haryana's) neighbouring state Rajasthan,Vasundhra Raje will again become chief minister with a thumping margin..they (Cong) have given up fight," he said. "Delhi goes to polls three days later. The situation in Delhi is such that Congress has already given up. Rahul Gandhi came to attend a public meeting in Delhi recently, but finding poor response,he did not address another rally after that. (Congress President) Sonia ji came to address one such meeting," the BJP leader said. He claimed that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also cancelled his public meeting in Delhi after BJP announced three rallies of Narendra Modi. "On Saturday, the Prime Minister was scheduled to address a public meeting. We thought since he speaks very less the people of Delhi will be lucky to atleast hear him. "We kept Narendra Modi's three meetings, and there was a statement from PMO on Friday saying that the PM is busy, therefore, his meeting has been cancelled," the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha said. He alleged that people are fed up with the Congress-led UPA government for its alleged failure on all fronts and being hit by numerous scams. Prices of essential commodities are on rise, economy is in shambles, investments have stopped while industrialists are migrating to foreign shores for investment,he claimed. "If this situation is not changed, from where will employment avenues be generated, the country's economy will come to a halt," he said. Jaitley wrote on his Facebook page that the entire concentration of BJP's campaign is focused on Delhi and its top leaders have visited several constituencies to address rallies and workers. "The entire party has been participating in the campaign.. Where is the Congress campaign? Who are the Congress campaigners?" Jaitley asked. He alleged that the Congress central leadership was visible only when the going appeared good for the party. "It seems the central leadership of Congress has virtually written off Delhi and is not actively participating in the Delhi campaign. Sheila Dikshit appears to be going about it all alone," Jaitley said. He said that even in its campaign on radio, hoardings and in newspapers, the Congress campaign appears to be both "subdued and confused". "It is this inactivity which is likely to add to the BJP's advantage. Aam Aadmi Party is also endeavouring to find a space for itself from the vacuum that Congress has created," Jaitley said. He claimed that in the December 4 elections,Congress is likely to fare even worse than the 33 per cent it won in 1977.
