Adding more fuel to speculations in political circles,BJP leaders Murli Manohar Joshi and Jagdish Mukhi on Tuesday met INLD chief Om Prakash Chautala at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi, where the former Haryana chief minister has been undergoing treatment for the last few days.
On May 16,BJP national president Rajnath Singh and senior leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi had met Chautala at the same hospital. In a span of last six days now, four senior BJP leaders have met Chautala.
Chautala, who was on Tuesday granted interim bail for six weeks by the Delhi High Court for undergoing pacemaker implant surgery,is serving jail term in the 2000 teachers recruitment scam.
Joshi and Mukhi met Chautala for nearly an hour. According to sources, only a few close aides of Chautala were allowed inside Chautalas room, when the BJP leaders met him. So far,BJP leaders had termed both the meetings with Chautala as courtesy calls and personal meetings.
These recent meetings have added fuel to speculations that the two parties may be drifting closer after snapping of the alliance during the last Haryana Assembly elections.
While BJP and INLD had lost, the Congress won a second consecutive term in 2009 the Haryana Assembly polls.
Last year,BJP had entered into alliance with HJC a party with lone MLA in the Assembly.
However,in the wake of the state Assembly and Lok Sabha polls slated for next year, political equations may change in Haryana.
While HJC chief Kuldeep Bishnoi is yet come out with a statement on these visits,a senior Congress leader said: Getting into an alliance is the personal decision of parties. If BJP breaks its alliance with HJC and teams up with INLD,it will only reveal BJPs flip-flop attitude.
As such, even if BJP and INLD get into an alliance,a lot of infighting is expected. While BJP may demand that the chief ministers post be sgared,INLD does not appear to be agreeing to it, he added.
