80,000 cft timber for construction in Leh,Kargil: Minister

The Minister ordered the department to stockpile timber at all depots in the Valley by December 15.

Nearly 80,000 cubic feet of timber has been stocked by the Jammu and Kashmir government for construction in Leh and Kargil districts that were devastated by flashfloods this year.

State Minister for Forests and Environment Mian Altaf Ahmad said the forest department has stocked 60000 cubic feet of timber for Leh and 18387 cft for Kargil.

The Minister,who chaired a review meeting here on Wednesday evening,ordered the department to stockpile timber at all the depots in the Valley by December 15.

“The department has stocked 7.20 lakh cft timber out of the target of 12.62 lakh cft of which one lakh cft has been dumped by State Forests Corporation,” a spokesman said.
