16-year-old raped by four men in a Gohana shop godown
A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by four men in the godown of a shop in the Gohana main market in Sonepat district on Friday hours after Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda claimed that all is well in the state.
In the latest incident coming just days after a 32-year-old woman was allegedly raped by three men in Jind district, and a 16-year-old girl was victimised by 12 youths in a Hisar village on September 9 the police registered a case against four men identified as Kali,Harish,Santy and Deepak, all residents of Gohana,on the complaint of the victims uncle, and arrested two.
According to the complaint, the victim had gone to buy groceries from a shop owned by Kali, who asked her to collect the same from a nearby godown. Kali followed the girl to the godown where three other accused were already present. As she entered the godown, the men overpowered the class 11 student, and raped her.
The victim, after reaching home, narrated the incident to her family who informed the police. The girls medical exam confirmed rape. Acting swiftly, police arrested two accused Kali and Harish. The other two will be arrested soon, Inspector Rajiv Singh,SHO of Gohana police station, said.
Ironically, the heinous crime came to light hours after Hooda stated there was no law and order problem in the state.
Despite several queries by mediapersons, during an hour long interaction, Hooda repeatedly stated that there was no law and order problem in the state, and said that culprits of the alleged gangrapes that took place in Hisar and Jind will be brought to book.
Attributing rising crime-graph in the state to prompt registration of cases,Hooda said,FIRs are registered as soon as somebody comes to the police with a complaint.
When questioned about the lax attitude of the police with regard to action against criminals who belonged to the Jat community in Haryana,Hooda, who also belongs to the same community, said,A criminal has no caste, and whoever commits a crime is a criminal. I am proud of being a Jat,but I belong to a party that does not believe in casteism.
While replying to queries raised on shoddy investigations by the Haryana police in the two gangrape cases,Hooda, said,There was no delay on the part of the police. As soon as the matter was reported, prompt action was taken. An FIR was immediately registered, and investigation began. A few of the accused have been arrested, and rest will be arrested, soon.
It is not that such crimes take place only in Haryana, and it is not right to say that law and order situation has deteriorated in the state. People have been investing in the state because everything is in order, he added.
